Johnny A. Coombes, Jr. 58, of Georgetown, MA, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 24, 2019 at the Highpoint Hospice House. He was the son of Sara Godfrey and John Coombes and step son of Joseph Godfrey- all who went ahead to bring him home when the time came. He leaves behind his older sister Tina Harrington and her husband Jeff Harrington and their family, his favorite brother, Barry Coombes and his family and finally his beloved little sister Tracey McCormick and her family. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins and caretakers, along with his roommates.
Johnny was born with Down’s Syndrome, and stayed a child at heart. He taught us all how enjoy the simple things in life like how much he would enjoy a bubble bath, drinking a can of coke or singing to his favorite songs. He enjoyed going for a ride in the car to go to McDonald’s or Dunkins’. He loved being with people, his roommates, care givers and family and was excited about attending parties. His happiest times later in life were spent at the lake with one of his favorite people, Julie Mills and her family. He had a smile and twinkle in his eye that could melt your heart. Johnny loved pulling his shenanigans with a grin and a laugh.
He will be truly missed, but he is home with his mother who has been waiting for him and we know he is safe and whole again.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours, Tuesday, December 3, 2019 from 4 – 7 PM at The Grondin-Carnevale Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave. Haverhill, MA 01830.
