Leslie D. “Les” Alby, 71 of Franklin, NH (Formerly of Groveland) passed away peacefully, Thursday, December 19, 2019 at The Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon, NH. Les was born May 28, 1948 in Haverhill, MA the son of late Donald A. and Frances (Hardy) Alby. He was raised in Groveland and graduated from Pentucket Regional High School. Les later graduated from Northern Essex Community College, University of Missouri and received his Master’s Degree from Suffolk University in Boston, MA. He was employed with Compugraphic for many years and later retired from the New Hampshire Department of Corrections where he worked as a Financial Administrator.
Les had an interest in sailing, target shooting, music and reading books. He was an avid history buff and loved participating in civil war reenactment activities. Les had many interests but found his greatest joy in spending time with family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
Les is survived by his sister, Alice Alby Haydock of Amesbury, MA, brother, William Alby and wife Marion (Harrigan) of Campton, NH and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, James F. Haydock.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours, Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 5 -7 PM at The Grondin-Carnevale Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave. Haverhill, MA 01830. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the funeral Home. A private burial will take place at The Riverview Cemetery in Groveland, MA. His family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The American Kidney Fund by visiting www.kidneyfund.org.
