Charles E. Waites, 68 of Lawrence, formerly of North Andover and Haverhill passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 22, 2021. Charles was born July 3, 1952 in Brookline, MA, the son of the late, Charles V. Waites and Marion (Turkotte) Waites. He was raised in North Andover and was a graduate of Greater Lawrence Vocational -Technical High School.
Charles was a skilled machinist having been employed with MKS Instruments in Lawrence, MA. He will forever be remembered as the keeper of the Ayer Mill clock in Lawrence, MA from 1991 until his son Chris took over in 2019. Charles was a good-natured man that enjoyed his newspaper and coffee at Dunkin Donuts. He was also a gifted machinist with his own machine shop in the basement of his home in Lawrence. He loved time with family, friends and most especially loved motorcycles and riding. He spent much of his free time on his Goldwing and later his 3-wheel Spyder. He will be dearly missed by his children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Charles is survived by his three children, Chris E. Waites of Lawrence, Laura McMillian and husband Rick of Williamsburg, OH and Charles R. Waites of Lawrence. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Jacob Waites and Lucas Waites, sister, Gail Ryan, niece, Michelle Apitz, nephew, William Gibson and many dear and close friends.
Family and friends are respectfully requested to attend visiting hours, Wednesday, April 28, 2021, from 5-7 PM at The Grondin-Carnevale Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave. Haverhill, MA 01830.
