Robert L. “Bob” MacArthur, 83, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Robert was born, October 8, 1937 in Lawrence, MA. He was the son of the late Lee MacArthur and Lillian (Bryson) MacArthur. Robert was a graduate of North Andover High School and was later employed as a Machinist.
Robert (Bob) reported that he had no family and would add “who needs family”. Bob was a man who easily made friends. These included bus drivers at the MVRTA, workers at Market Basket where he would go for lunch. He spent time talking and listening to his buddies Jim, Gus & Bob while waiting the postal carrier each day. He shared many fun memories with residents from his residential facility. He expressed gratitude for the staff at Phoenix who provide him with support and care. He was a private man and so details about his life are limited. He was a retired veteran. He was definitely a “MacGyver” and handy with duct tape. When asked how he would like to be remembered he stated “As someone who laughed a lot.”
A private graveside service will take place at Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover, MA. Services are in the care of The Grondin-Carnevale Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave. Haverhill, MA 01830.
