Thomas J. Lee, Jr. 82, of Haverhill, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. Thomas was born January 24, 1938 in Medford, MA the son of the late Thomas J. Lee, Sr. and Delia M. (Foye) Lee. He was a 1955 graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Waltham. Thomas graduated in 1960 from Providence College with a degree in Business Administration.
Thomas had a strong faith and was a longtime communicant of Saint John the Baptist Church in Haverhill. He enjoyed exercising and swimming at The Haverhill YMCA. Thomas was a frequent traveler on Amtrack and loved seasonal living in Hollywood FL and later Tequsta, FL. Amongst other things, he enjoyed a good seafood lunch, riding the train around the country, and spending time with family.
Even though he traveled all around the world, from Hawaii to the Grand Canyon to Ireland, he still enjoyed the simpler things in life, like a bowl of coffee ice cream and taking the backroads. He never missed a chance to tell you to “take a right here” so he could enjoy the ride a little longer. No one was ever a stranger to him, and he never hesitated to ask where you are from as the gateway to a conversation. He was also an avid fan at his grandchildren’ s sporting events, as well as at the games of his Providence Friars. In the last few years, he enjoyed peaceful moments in Maine with his family, where he would take in the passing boats, the sounds of the loons, and the tranquil sunsets. He leaves an impact on the world and those around him like few others can do.
Thomas is survived by his two adoring daughters, Maureen Lee Locke of Groveland and Eileen Lee and husband Jonathan Kilian of Merrimac, MA. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Brandon Locke, Reanna Locke Colleen Kilian and McKenna Kilian, two sisters, Louise Freese and husband Colin and Mary Jane Lee, two nieces, Lauren and Meredith and countless dear friends. He was pre-deceased by his granddaughter, Kelsey Locke and two sisters, Ann Marie Lee and Kathleen Lee.
