Obituary

BRADFORD – William J. Patten, 85, died Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor M. (Craven) Patten.

     Born in Lynn on July 9, 1936 he was the son of the late Walter G. and Evangeline (Colford) Patten. He had resided in Lynn and Swampscott for many years before moving to Bradford in 1997. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, he was honorably discharged in August 1955.

     Bill was employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Lynn for many years. He also enjoyed bartending at the Blue Note in Lynn for several years.

     In addition to his wife of fifty-eight years, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa A. and Christopher Butler of Wakefield and Tracy L. and Christopher Gerry of Groveland; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William F. and Donna Patten of Oklahoma City, OK and Donald J. Patten of Peabody; a sister, Patricia Jenkins of Peabody; eight grandchildren, Matthew Patten and his wife, Kayla, Megan Barnard and her husband, Sawyer, Ashley Patten, Kaylie and Taylor Gerry and Emma, Hannah and Clara Butler; three great-grandchildren, Harper and Nash Patten and Hudson Barnard and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his sister, Barbara Ago and his brother, Walter Patten.

     Funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 92452.
